What if I told you there was one universal way to feel more energized throughout your day, increase your ability to focus, and easily maintain a healthy weight?

The answer is very simple: breakfast. Breakfast received its name because, essentially, when we are asleep, we are fasting. There is no food or drink being consumed, therefore, in the morning when you wake up to eat, you are breaking that fast, hence the term breakfast.

In any regard, not matter what category you fall in, I strongly urge you to reconsider because doctors everywhere will agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Not eating breakfast may make people irritable, foggy, tired, unmotivated and slow throughout the day. Without the kick start energy that breakfast can provide throughout the morning, people are more likely to have less productive school and work days, while also feel more exhausted.

A Centers for Disease Control report on guidelines for school health programs states: Skipping breakfast negatively impacts a school-aged childs ability to effectively problem-solve. For this reason, it is especially important for young children to be eating healthy breakfasts.

Students who consumed breakfast tested higher in standardized test scores, were absent less from school and were more on time to class.

Incorporating a healthy breakfast packed with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and proteins is an ideal means for a person who wants to lose weight but is not willing to overexert through exercise. After all, losing weight is 70% diet and 30% exercise.

Breakfast and Cognitive Function

Eating breakfast affects academics, memory, and brain function. Hunger during testing leads to lower scores and shorter attention spans. Students who eat breakfast have score on average 12% higher on tests than those who do not.

According to a 2018 study published in Physiology and Behavior, eating a healthy breakfast in the morning has beneficial effects on memory particularly short-term and attention, allowing children to more quickly and accurately comprehend information.

Therefore, breakfast allows for a greater understanding of knowledge and an easier ability to focus.

Furthermore, the increasing issue of obesity in America would subside because metabolism would increase if healthy breakfasts were being consumed. So many benefits could be reaped if only people took a few extra minutes in the morning to take care of their bodies.
